PRESS RELEASE
The city of Saint-Rémi chooses inLibro and Koha Integrated Library System for its library.
Montreal, May 10 2018. – From now on, the Saint-Remi public library will count on inLibro’s expertise and on the Koha Integrated Lybrary System (ILS) to manage the library’s operations.
inLibro will undertake the installation and the configuration of Koha, as well as the hosting, the data migration, the training and the technical support in order to offer the city of Saint-Rémi a truly turnkey solution.
The Koha ILS is used in more than 15,000 libraries around the world and is renowned for its sturdiness and stability. As an open source software, Koha boasts a large and dynamic international community of developpers. Koha includes all the modules normally used in libraries, such as cataloguing, circulation, patron management, acquisitions, serials, reporting and statistics, and a responsive OPAC that can be used on mobile devices as well as support for RFID technologies.
inLibro developed a module to handle the automatic cataloguing and circulation of ebooks through the Pretnumerique.ca platform. inLibro has also developed a much appreciated plugin to extract the statistics necessary to the annual survey of public libraries in Quebec.
“inLibro was offering us a hosted solution, completely turnkey, which suited our technological needs perfectly. We were quickly seduced by the user-friendliness of Koha’s staff interface. Its ease of use was confirmed as soon as we started using the software,” explains Vicky Mailloux, head of the library.
“Among the aspects that made us choose this product,” Ms. Mailloux adds, “was the integration of ebooks. Our patrons immediately see if a particular title is available since the loan and the download are done in the OPAC. Everyone was wowed by the look of the OPAC, which mirrors the design of the city’s Web site, lending a certain uniformity to the different platforms. Koha’s multiple features add value to the patron experience and make many of the staff’s tasks much easier. Changing a library system is a major project and we felt we could count on inLibro’s team to assist us during the whole process. We are looking forward to see what new features will be added to Koha in the future.”
The city of Saint-Rémi is the latest addition to the growing list of inLibro’s clients, among which are municipalities such as Alma, Chelsea, Chibougamau, Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Rigaud, Saint-Eustache, Saint-Zotique, Thetford Mines and Victoriaville; 40 cegeps; private schools; canadian school boards; ministries and institutions such as the ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the ministère de la Sécurité publique; the Santécom network as well as many hospitals in the province of Québec; and other organizations in Canada.
